Because we build with materials, previously extracted from the earth, which is thus deconstructed. On the semantic and iconic level, forms seem to disappear, in the blur. I find that construction is rising here behind a deconstruction. Earth colors are a reminder.
The incorporation of images, covered, erased, are an integral part of the work. Covered with sand, they are integrated in an environment under construction.
The subject immediately reminded me of the construction / deconstruction of real estate. This is evoked in the photo of Helen Levitt given with the subject. One of my references for this achievement was the work of Philippe Cognée, whom I admire so much.
